Old Friends, New Website
Tater Knob Pottery and Farm has been a long-time client of KSD. Years ago we helped our friends Sarah Culbreth and Jeff Enge with an identity and promotional materials for their Berea, Kentucky pottery studio. They didn’t have a big budget, but we were able to create an identity and other marketing materials that have not only helped their business as it's grown, but has stood the test of time.
While a good logo can be timeless, a good website isn’t. As technology evolves, so do our websites. We designed Tater Knob’s first website years ago when Flash was a robust web technology and monitor resolutions were much lower. We had fun creating this fresh, responsive, CMS (Content Management System) website that showcases this creative family and all their beautiful pottery.
One of the premier visitor attractions near Berea, Kentucky (#2 according to Trip Advisor) Tater Knob Pottery is an unforgettable experience. These artisans love what they do, and they love to share it with others. They put their heart into each piece of pottery they make, and give the warmest Kentucky welcome to visitors.
Another goal for the website was to give visitors the next-best-thing to visiting the studio. We have created a large collection of photographs of Tater Knob pottery over the years, which we used generously to give a sense of the place and the pottery.
The owners like to spend as much time as possible with their hands in clay or sharing their art with their customers. They always prefer to talk to someone about the pottery they are purchasing. So their preference was not to have an online store, but rather show their products and prices and encourage customers to call to place an order.
