Fun In AND Out of the Water!
Lake Cumberland and a wide variety of outdoor recreational and leisure activities are important draws to this vacation community in southeastern Kentucky. However, there are many other attractions, activities and events that further differentiate Somerset and Pulaski County as a unique destination for vacationers — including Civil War history, classic car shows, music festivals, art and craft shows, a water park, five golf courses, two vineyards and more.
Defining these community strengths led KSD to develop the destination brand positioning statement, "Fun in and Out of the Water," as part of a comprehensive rebranding effort for the Somerset-Pulaski County Convention and Visitors Bureau. That statement is visually represented by a smiling, bubbly face in the CVB's logo. Look closely and you'll notice a little letter play — the nose and one eye on the face are represented by the letters "L" and "C".
As part of the rebranding effort, KSD took new community photography; redesigned the website, annual visitor guide, visitor kiosks and the visitor center; and developed a line of wearables and giveaways incorporating the LC smile symbol.
