Does donor recognition matter?
Donor recognition is essential for keeping new donors invested in an organization‘s mission. It supports donor retention, increases donation amounts, and helps the organization connect with more potential supporters. It’s also a core component of any effective donor stewardship strategy — the act of building strong, lasting, and beneficial relationships with donors after their first gift.

Donor recognition is essential for keeping new donors invested in an organization‘s mission. It supports donor retention, increases donation amounts, and helps the organization connect with more potential supporters. It’s also a core component of any effective donor stewardship strategy — the act of building strong, lasting, and beneficial relationships with donors after their first gift.
Somerset Communuity College’s Donor Recognition Wall is located in the entrance lobby of the main academic classroom building on campus. The four 14-foot “torches” display the names of major donors to the college, arranged according to levels of giving. The extended glass arc is etched with W.B. Yeats’ quote “Education is not the filling of a pail, but the lighting of a fire.” The etching on the gold band describes the piece and includes praise for past and future donors.
Hall of Honor
Designed as part of the renovation of Somerset Community College’s oldest campus building entrance, the Hall of Honor publicly celebrates outstanding alumni, faculty, staff, and friends. It recognizes individuals who have gone above and beyond in their service and demonstrated a lasting commitment to the success and academic excellence of the college community.
