Kentucky is a state with deep roots in American craft traditions. The state's artisan heritage was born out of necessity in the 1700s as people made their way through the newly discovered passage in the Appalachians, the Cumberland Gap. Everyday items that could be fashioned locally didn't have to be packed in. Today, basket weavers, broom makers and blacksmiths produce their goods with many of the same techniques. And though curves and corners may change with the generations, each Kentucky wrought iron gate, egg basket or mountain dulcimer has, at it's heart, nearly 250 years of refinement.
"From Our Hands to Yours" was created by TOURSEKY.COM, a non-profit organization, whose mission is to showcase the diverse, exciting and entertaining possibilities open to visitors traveling in southern and eastern Kentucky.
KSD has worked with TOURSEKY on many projects including branding, signage and guidebooks for Kentucky's National Scenic Byways, and award-winning visitors' guides.
