The Wright Approach
As part of a complete branding campaign for MedPark West, KSD developed exterior signage for this premier medical office park in Somerset. The entrance sign was designed to fit the scale of the large development and to complement its Prairie-style architecture with its metal repeat pattern and long, low profile. Other sign types include temporary directional and informational signs, dimensional exterior lettering designed for buildings in the development, and an interior sign system for the primary physician suites.
Medical Tune Up
The centerpiece of this sign system KSD designed for Oxford Medical Associates, a large custom medical cross, is actually a working wind chime. Three other exterior elements mark the property entrance and display doctors' names at two practice entrances. Inside, each suite's sign system was unique and designed to complement that particular interior design scheme.
This 150-acre southeastern Kentucky industrial park is surrounded by rural farmland. When designing the park's signature entrance, directory and standardized company identifiers, KSD's team took cues from the red barns, blackboard fences and stonework walls of the surrounding countryside. A working weathervane tops the entrance sign.
Room for Reading
Tall, narrow pylons mark main destinations in the library's reading room. All are visible across the large room and can be referenced when directions are given from the front desk. This interior system includes directory, ADA compliant room identification, donor recognition and end-of-range signs, as well as dimensional wall letters for a few special rooms. The sign program was built and installed utilizing a complete set of documentation drawings.
Crafting a Sign for a 100-year Old Building
One of the objectives with a sign design is to create an object that finds a balance between catching the eye and blending naturally into its surroundings. For this project for attorneys Richard Hay and John T. Mandt, we incorporated references from their historic building's architectural details to connect the sign to the site and to make it feel at home on the narrow street of 100-year-old, 3-story residences-turned-offices.
A Tribute to Supporters of Higher Education
Somerset Community College, part of the Kentucky Community and Technical College System, recognizes outstanding alumni, faculty, staff and friends who have dedicated themselves to the success and academic excellence of SCC.
KSD designed the permanent display to fit an existing space in Meece Hall on the SCC campus. Materials were chosen to complement the space as well as allow for easy updates as names are added following the biennial induction ceremony.
