We’ve had the great fortune at KSD to maintain relationships with several of our clients that span decades.

Such is the case with the Master Musicians Festival. KSD has been involved with Somerset’s premier summer music event in some way since its inception 23 years ago. Whether developing MMF’s website, designing posters or brochures, writing press releases, fitting the stage with banners or sitting in our lawn chairs in July to take in the awesome festival atmosphere right here in our hometown, KSD is dedicated to supporting MMF and its mission of bringing musical excellence to rural Kentucky.

Identifying a Comprehensive Approach to Combat Substance Abuse

Since 2003 Operation UNITE has worked to rid communities in Eastern Kentucky of illegal drug use through undercover narcotics investigations, coordinating treatment for substance abusers, providing support to families and friends of substance abusers, and educating the public about the dangers of using drugs. UNITE’s goal is to educate and activate individuals by developing and empowering community coalitions to no longer accept or tolerate the drug culture.

Getting Involved

To commemorate the 35th anniversary of Wendell Berry's ground-breaking book "The Unsettling of America: Culture & Agriculture," the Berry Center hosted a three-day conference in 2013 that featured notable authors, community activists, farmers, sociologists and agricultural economists.
KSD designed the conference brochure, which outlined the goal and format of the conference as well as biographies of each speaker. In keeping with the theme of the conference, the brochure was printed in limited quantity on recycled paper. KSD was also a supporting partner of the event.

Cultivating Student Success

KSD created a new identity for Mike’s Kids Education Foundation that focuses on Mike Caudill’s belief that every student has the ability to succeed if they are given the right tools. Superintendent of Madison County Schools from 2001 until his death in 2007, Caudill was passionate about helping those students who had fallen through the cracks, and was dedicated to improving literacy in the district.

Standing Together, Standing the Test of Time

More than 30 years ago, KSD designed the logo for Hospice of Lake Cumberland. Using the "H" letterform, the symbol was drawn to represent a support network of people — patients, family members, nurses, doctors and other volunteers. Over the years, KSD has expanded the Hospice brand to include signage, brochures, the organization's website and secondary graphic identifiers, such as the one for the kids bereavement program, Camp Promise.
