The Kentucky Telecom Association (KTA) is the leading state trade association supporting and promoting the telecommunications industry in the Commonwealth.

The Kentucky Telecom Association was, until recently, known as the Kentucky Telephone Association. The name change was adopted to better define the organization’s scope. KTA decided the new name required an update of their logo as well.

Kirby Stephens Design was tasked to design the new symbol, which began with an examination of the old. We determined that not only was the logo dated,

I felt this was a nice addition to the mother ship, but my wife was not impressed. The really neat thing about living on a gravel road is you get to redesign after every rain.

Some vanity license plates just work better than others. I suppose this is aimed at the color blind. I do love the coordinated attire. (Spotted recently in Somerset, Kentucky)

This spring has been spectacular for the redbuds in Kentucky. The distinctive magenta color of the early blooms brings a beautiful splash of contrast to the many hues of green emerging along the roadways. Redbuds are easy to spot… as I said above, they are magenta.

Many thousands of years ago, someone painted the image on the left. I made the image on the right a few minutes ago. The cave painting is obviously art, but it probably was a message as well. It may have had something to do with a religious ceremony, maybe a record of a successful hunt, possibly some prehistoric punk’s graffiti, or it could be directions to an important place. OK friends, quiz time. What’s a beau font do-bust?

(Cue the Jeopardy tune.)

Don’t panic. You probably haven’t heard of it. In fact, I’m pretty sure my childhood girlfriends made it up.

I can so vividly recall one of them walking down the hallway of Meece Middle School repeating the phrase with gusto. “Look at that beau font do-bust,” she would say, pointing to a particularly spectacular hair style. And of course we were all envious. We wanted our hair to look like that too.

There’s nothin’ like a good, reused lawn chair made of old western belts.

Why? Because it’s just cool. That someone got rid of the old, tattered cloth on a wireframe chair and had the forethought to re-weave it with leather belts just blows me away. I mean who thinks of that?

I discovered “Belted in the Backyard” this week after crafty friend Jonna, who regularly follows the blogDudeCraft, sent me the link. It just so happened that I was in the business for a little artistic inspiration, so I clicked.

Bob Gibson, aka the Carvin Artist, creates beautiful decoys from the cedar on his Washington County, Kentucky farm. When KSD was tasked to develop a website to showcase Bob’s work a few years ago, one of the first challenges was how to photograph his carvings.

Food Fight!, our first iPhone game, is a little over a year old now and we’ve just released an updated version with a new character in the lineup. The fast and elusive “Sherry Cherry” is a score multiplier. Hit Sherry and you double your current score. We’ve also added a pause button so you can take a break from your marathon food battles. These two additions allow much, much higher scoring.

Food Fight! was developed as a unique marketing tool for The Doolin House Inn / 2Chefs Catering. Designed to be simple to play and appealing to any age gamer, Food Fight! has done very well in the iTunes App Store with over 60,000 unique downloads world-wide, and it’s showing no signs of slowing down.
